2018 November – Footkin, Fireworks, Squirrels, House Hunting, Guilty Fun, Lawyers

Footkin

Here are 2 pictures, one of lovely me and one of a football.

The football is orange and in the water under the tree.  As you know, I do like a football.

Mum says it is actually a pumpkin but I guess we will never know because I couldn’t reach it.   The water was too deep and I am not a keen swimmer.

But you can see I did try.  It was a bit parky in there I can tell you.

I am looking very hard at the footkin but it stayed stubbornly out of reach. Mum didn’t even try to get it for me.

She is a rubbish human sometimes. I expect the offspring would have done the decent thing and waded in to help.

Fireworks

This is a picture of me ignoring the fireworks.

Mum says I am lucky they don’t bother me at all.

I think what she really means is that SHE’s lucky they don’t bother me at all.

Squirrels

This is a picture of me watching a squirrel.

I haven’t manage to catch one yet but I’ve come pretty close.   I am wondering if today will be my lucky day.

Fun Facts – some squirrels can live for up to 10 years in the wild and you can get red, grey and black squirrels in the UK.  Black squirrels were first found in the UK in 1912.

House Hunting

This is me enjoying the late Autumn sunshine.

It is still quite warm really.

Mum has been doing a lot of work which is quite unreasonable really.  She is still going away for work every now and then.   Again quite unreasonable.

She is also House Hunting.  She seems a bit depressed about that because there isn’t much choice.   I don’t know why she doesn’t take me with her – I enjoy hunting.  I’m pretty sure I’d be able to hunt down a house faster than Mum.   Compared to me, she’s quite slow actually.

To be honest, I don’t know why we can’t stay here.   Mum says all of the offspring have moved out now so we don’t need all the space.  Plus her elderly Aunt needs a bit more help these days so she feels she ought to move a bit closer to her.

Well, she needs to get her skates on with this House Hunting malarkey because we are moving out in 2 months now.   Apparently.

Mmmnnn…..

No pressure then.

Guilty Fun

This is a picture of me looking after offspring (again).

Mum is away working (again).  It is actually more fun when she’s not here – but don’t tell her that.

I need her to feel guilty.

This is a picture of me in my ‘making Mum feel guilty’ pose.

I reckon I’m killin it.

Lawyers

PS: One of the offspring is a trainee lawyer now so I may need to make enquiries as to how best to deal with Mum as she keeps going away and leaving me.

Apparently it is actually THE LAW that Mum has to be a reasonable man on the Clapham omnibus.

That will take some doing in my opinion.  She can be quite stubborn at times.

Still getting other people to do things they don’t actually want to do is what lawyers are there for, isn’t it?

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Music:  Del Amitri – a Scottish alt rock band – some really great songs from mid 80’s to now.  These are taken from the greatest hits album ‘A Hatful of Rain’.  If you’ve never listened to this band then now’s your chance.  Go for it.

Kiss This Thing Goodbye

Be my Downfall

Tell Her This

Roll to Me

Always the Last to Know

Not Where It’s At

Cry to be Found

Reading:

Adolf Hitler, My Part In His Downfall by Spike Milligan, (Spike Milligan War Memoirs)

This is the first of his War Memoirs, so if you like this then you’ll want to read the rest anyway!  Irreverent and hilarious.  Mum’s Father worked with Spike and Peter Sellers (not sure but maybe The Goon Show) and it was complete and utter madness all day apparently.

Film:

A Fish called Wanda starring John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin.

A heist comedy film – award wining and genuinely funny.
