2017 January – Mist and Snow, Haggis, Oh Saffron!

‘Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.’

Carl Bard

Misty Mornings

Thanks Carl.  I am a fan of starting from now.

Here is a picture of me in the mist.

The mist is a good thing for me because I can’t see very far.  If there are other dogs on the far side of the field I can’t see them so I don’t fly into a meltdown.

My eyesight is exceptional.

It is so good that sometimes I can see things that aren’t even there.

This is a picture of me demonstrating that.

I expect there was something there before I scared it off.

The humans all agree that they feel very safe out with me because of my eyesight.    Maybe also because no one in their right mind would entertain getting up close and personal with me while I’m having a meltdown.

Snow Day

Then it snowed.  I like the snow.

Mum likes the snow as well. The offspring like the snow too.  We all went out for ages.

..snow it’s all good then…hahaha

Haggis

This is my late January dinner menu (I only get bits mixed in with other boring stuff which is a bit of a disappointment).  There were lots of offspring around and Mum wasn’t cooking which was why it was so nice. In fact to be absolutely clear it is the offspring’s boyfriends who cook.  They are quite cheffy and foody and I like them a lot.  They are also not at all vegetarian which suits me.

Monday – roast beef (leftover from Sunday)
Tuesday – eggs (raw of course)
Wednesday – haggis (Burns night)
Thursday – leftover haggis
Friday – T bone steak trimmings  (Mum abandoned me and went out so the offspring treated me…..and themselves)
Saturday – venison
Sunday – probably roast pork by the look of things

Next week I expect we’ll be back to normal. Sad.

Oh Saffron!!

So, I’m pretty sure something bad just happened.  But I’m not quite sure what.

I went out to chase a squirrel and I got really excited and a little bit gallopy.  I came chasing back into the house and I ran into the kitchen, and the study, and hopped onto the settee and up the stairs and onto Chloe’s bed and then onto Katy’s bed.

Then everything went pear shaped for some reason.

Mum and offspring went into determined cleaning mode.  Which isn’t normal  in this house.  Usually stuff just gets left.

Mum even washed my feet which was unnecessarily biblical if you ask me.

There was a frenzy of activity and the beds have been changed, the rugs rolled up (for dealing with later whatever that means) the yellow cloth and antibacterial spray came out and then the vacuum cleaner.

I have no idea why.

And weirdest of all, one of my paws smells of poo. It’s the one I am keeping away from in the picture.

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Reading: The Alchemist – by Paulo Coelho, published by Harper Collins.  A transforming novel about the essential wisdom of listening to your heart, learning to read the omens strewn along life’s path and above all, following your dreams.

Film: Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman.  Polarized critics due to the starting philosophy of ‘we only use 10% of our brain capacity, imagine what we could do with more’.  And one critic says the movie is based on the Kantian model of transcendental idealism.  Ok, steady on, it’s just a sci fi action sort of movie, right?  Wouldn’t mind laying my hands on some CPH4 though….
