2017 April – Makin’ Friends, Happy Birthday!, Insta Doggo, Barky MacBark Face, Super, Innocent, Brave

Makin’ Friends

Yup, that’s right, I am next to another dog and NOT having a complete meltdown.

The other dog is Freddie.  I have known Freddie for a few weeks and we have been going for walks together.  I don’t mind Freddie.  I suspect he isn’t keen on other dogs either really.

You can’t see it in the picture but there are more dogs ahead of us.  The other dogs get treats but some of them just drop them on the floor.  Freddie and I and are at the back and we hoover them up.  Waste not want not.

Mum is quite surprised at how well I am doing.  I always have to be at the back though because I don’t like being followed.  It turns out that this is the best I will probably ever be and only because I know Freddie now.  Put another new dog in the mix and we are back to square one again.

I don’t mind the walks but even after months I’m still not keen on other dogs so Mum has decided that she and I will be lone wolves instead.  Which we can’t be (obviously) because we are together.

I’m not too sad about that to be honest.

Two’s company in my book.

Happy Birthday!

I have been here a year now so today has been officially declared my BIRTHDAY (since nobody knows when it actually is).

Happy Birthday to me!

I may decide to stay here after all.

Insta – Doggo

Here is a picture of me briefing my Social Media Assistant (SMA).  I have been very busy doing important stuff on something called Instagram.  It is quite time consuming.

I have no idea what it is or how it works or even why it exists. Apparently I have likes and followers.  Frankly I hope they keep their distance because I don’t like being followed (but don’t tell my SMA).

Mum still takes me out for walks and stuff but I have a feeling she may not be able to cope once I get famous. I will probably need a chauffeur and a bodyguard as well as my SMA.

I am also thinking I may need to change my name. Saffron Dogdashian sounds kinda cool.

Apparently I am cool.

And very nearly quite famous.

Shall I get my teeth whitened?

Mum is rolling her eyes and tutting.

Barky Mac Bark Face

Today I have barked loudly and I mean loudly (even by my standards- which are high).   I have barked at the neighbours, and the postman and Mum (by accident).

This is to make up for yesterday morning.

Yesterday wasn’t great.

I think yesterday I would call myself Barfy Mac Barf Face. I barfed outside Mum’s room. And I barfed at the top of the stairs. It was a complete waste of eating breakfast.

Offspring #3 cleaned it up.

Today I am not planning on barfing.  But I might do a bit more barking.  I’ll just see how it goes.

Just a simple change of letter makes all the difference.

Especially for offspring #3.

Super

Here is a picture of me looking super cute.

I was super obedient out on my walk today and I was super good when I met 2 dogs.  They went past me 6 feet away (I kid you not) and they had a male human with them which is always a bit of a thing for me.

I was super involved in finding the treats which Mum had dropped into the long grass.  They were super difficult to find. So I was super silent and super sniffy.

So, all in all, I must be super dog. (No capes though).

Innocent

And this is a picture of me looking innocent.

Because genuinely, I am.

Well apart from scaring an elderly lady today.  To be fair she looked absolutely terrified and by my standards all I did was an incy-wincey bit of a bark.

It’s not my fault.

She really shouldn’t have come over to ask Mum if I was an anxious dog then should she?  Mum was feeding me treats at the time so it should have been a bit obvious really, but humans can be quite unobservant at times.

Anyone else remotely sensible would have realised that I needed ALL of Mum’s attention.

I don’t think the elderly lady will be bothering us again.

Brave

Here is a picture of me looking very brave and strong out in the woods today.  I was looking for danger. I have a sneaky feeling that the most dangerous thing in the woods might be me.

But don’t tell anyone.

This picture was taken a few seconds before I nearly dislocated Mum’s shoulder chasing a squirrel.

So you see, squirrels are more dangerous than me really.

Guard dog

Here is a picture of me guarding the house.  Mum has gone out.

Obviously I’m only pretending to be asleep.

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Music: Level 42 – mostly 80’s and 90’s hits in a jazz-funk genre.   Mum saw them live at Camden Palais in the 80’s during her misspent youth clubbing around London.

The name of the band is a reference to the novel The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, in which the number 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

Some great songs:

Lessons in Love

Leaving me now

The Sun Goes Down (Living it Up)

Something About You

Running in the Family

Love Games

Reading fiction (or is it?):    Has to be The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy doesn’t it?   What do you mean you’ve not read this?   Do you know what, if you haven’t read it then you just should.  Originally a 1978 radio commentary and now a series of books, TV series, games and a film.

Film: Sci fi comedy – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, of course.  Feel that if you’ve not read the books or listened to the radio adaptations, it might be a tad difficult to follow but hey, you’ve nothing to lose.   And it’s got Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent and Sam Rockwell as Zaphod Beeblebrox.  What’s not to like.

Anyhow – so long and thanks for all the fish……
