2024 June – Hinchingbrooke Park, Order Error, Flowers, Mountain Flying, Passenger, Gently Bently
Hinchingbrooke Park
This is a picture of the lovely me out and about in Hinchingbrooke Park. I am taking Mum for a walk. She really needs to get out and about a bit more.
It was surprisingly peaceful.
Usually there are lots of joggers and runners but Mum seems to have found a gap in the morning when the early birds have gone and the mid / late morning lot haven’t yet appeared. It suits me very nicely.
It also means I don’t have to get in and out of the car. Getting in for the trip out is OK but after my walk, getting back in can be a little tricky. My hips aren’t what they used to be. Also I am a little bit tubbier than I should be.
Order error
Offspring #3 has ordered an unbelievable amount of dog biscuits for Penny.
Even Penny is struggling. And she doesn’t give up easily.
Mnnnn. Tricky but I reckon I’d be able to help deal with the pesky dog biscuits situation.
Don’t you?
I am pleased to report that I was given the opportunity to assist.
Flowers
Mum has been growing stuff again. She is happy with herself.
I feel she could be a little less selfish and maybe consider growing some chickens instead. For me you understand.
It can’t be that difficult.
But she probably won’t.
Having to make do with chew sticks instead.
And then a well-deserved little rest.
Mountain Flying
Good luck with that in East Anglia.
Just saying.
Passenger
Mum has been up in the air but as a passenger this time. She said it was a bit bumpy but quite relaxing all things considered. Gave her a chance to look out at what was happening.
Er….isn’t she supposed to be doing that anyway while she’s flying?
You won’t catch me up there.
Ever.
Especially if it’s bumpy.
Gently Bently
Mum quite likes this car.
Apparently one of the swim gals had a dream where Mum rocked up in one of these.
I suspect that is what it will remain – a dream.
Never mind eh?
Could actually see myself in the passenger seat of one of these – can’t you?
Yes, you know you can.
Not a bad colour either.

Reading:
A Place Called Freedom is historical fiction by Ken Follett and published by Pan Macmillan. Set in 1767, it follows the adventures of an idealistic young coal miner from Scotland who believes there must be more to life than working down the pit. The miner, Malachi (Mack) McAsh, eventually runs away in order to find work and a new life in London. Eventually McAsh becomes a leader amongst the working classes of the city and becomes a target for those vested interest groups who do not share his point of view. McAsh is framed for a crime he did not commit and sent to serve seven years hard labour in the Colony of Virginia where he is forced to find a new life. Gritty, Gripping.
Film:
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, a 1969 film starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Based loosely on fact, the film tells the story of Wild West outlaws Robert LeRoy Parker, known as Butch Cassidy (Newman) and his partner Harry Longabaugh the Sundance Kid (Redford) who are on the run from a crack US posse after a string of train robberies. Mum watched this years ago – the final scenes are poignant. Great film.
