2023 June – Not your blanket Saffron!, Wedding Bells, Welsh Wales, Them Bones, Squirrel Ahoy, Exhausted, Hot Hot Hot, Swimble

Not Your Blanket Saffron!

Mum foolishly got up from sunbathing to go and get a drink.  Ha! You snooze, you lose.

The blanket  is all nicely laundered as well. It’s mine, all mine now. Very comfy, please and thank you.

When Mum came back I just stared at her and refused to budge. I am not the smallest dog in the world and sometimes it comes in handy.  There was no way she was able to move me. He he he.

After a bit, I got too hot so I moved – but I did it on my terms you understand.

Wedding Bells

Offspring #2 and Arron tied the knot this month.

I didn’t get an invitation but I understand that Kobe was there.  Mum said it would all have been too much for my sensitive nature.

It was a lovely day and there were fireworks too.  I don’t mind fireworks, they don’t bother me at all, so maybe I would have been OK after all.

On the other hand, I am not sure I would have been keen on wearing a bridesmaids dress. I expect I would have kept tripping over it and I don’t do heels.   Neither does Mum usually and she nearly fell in the fountain when they were taking photos. Arron’s Mum grabbed her just in time.

Can’t take her anywhere.

Shouldn’t take her anywhere.

Welsh Wales

After the wedding Mum, Uncle Mike and Michelle went to Wales for a mini break. It was peaceful and there was a small brook at the bottom of the garden – too small to swim in but I expect if I had been there I would have had a paddle.

Of course I wasn’t there.

Not invited.

Again.

This is now a persistent pattern isn’t it?

Them Bones

This is my consolation prize for not being invited to Wales.

Not too bad I guess.

I’ll let you know in a minute.

Squirrel Ahoy

I have just chased a pesky squirrel into the trees.

Cheeky thing.

I have to be on permanent alert for those critters.  It only just escaped in time. I am getting closer to it and one day, one day……..

Exhausted

I have had a busy day. End of.   So has my mouse toy. We are both having a well deserved rest.

Hot, Hot, Hot

It is actually pretty hot this month so I am making the most of it and topping up my tan.

When it gets too hot I find the coolest place in the house which is next to the front door.

And then back to the window of joy.  It is complicated being me.

Swimble

Mum and her friends have a more extreme way of cooling off.

Good luck to them!

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Music:

I’m opting for a bit of George Ezra this month. Cool.

  • Paradise
  • Blame it on Me
  • Pretty Shining People
  • Budapest
  • Anyone for you
  • Come on home for Christmas
  • Hold My Girl

Reading:

The Salt Path by Raynor Winn and published by Penguin.  Just days after learning her husband of 32 years was terminally ill, a couple lost their home and livelihood. With nothing left and little time, they impulsively decided to walk the 630-mile South West Coast path.  Living wild and free at the mercy of sea and sky, they discovered a new and liberating existence – but what would they find at the journey’s end?

Read the book and find out!  S’good.

Film:

The Girl on the Train is a 2016 American mystery psychological thriller film, based on the popular debut novel of the same name by British author Paula Hawkins.  The film follows an alcoholic divorcée who becomes involved in a missing persons investigation.  The critics weren’t overly enamoured apparently but Mum liked it.  Emily Blunt did a great job and there are a few twists and turns. Pretty decent, but not a relaxing kind of film…..
