2023 February – Brooding Sky, Madingley Hall, One Leisure, Spring Clean, Birthday Boys, Elvis, 60, Quizzical, Sunset
Brooding sky
This is me out under a brooding sky. I have no idea what that means but it sounds quite theatrical doesn’t it?
Mum has looked it up for me – apparently brooding means moodily, sullenly, darkly sombre.
Oh well
Whatever…
Generally I’m not any of those things. Seems a colossal waste of time when there are exciting things to sniff and horse poo to eat.
I reckon I will carry on as normal and just let the clouds do their thing.
Madingley Hall
Mum has been to somewhere which looks quite posh. She didn’t take me of course.
Typical.
So selfish.
She went with Julia, who took these photos. They are way better than any Mum could take.
I expect you’ll agree.
Just sayin’.
One Leisure
Mum goes here most mornings at 8am. She says it doesn’t live up to its name – it’s not especially leisurely.
D’ya reckon I would be welcome?
I could be a great distraction. They could see if they could lift 45 kilos of wriggling Labrador.
Happy to oblige.
It’s my pleasure.
Spring Clean
Mum is spring cleaning. I expect you can tell from the look on my face exactly what I think of that. I have virtually nowhere to lie down and stretch out properly.
Honestly.
She has no regard for my sensitive nature and an utter – one might even say contemptuous – disregard for the rules of Feng Sui.
My rules of Feng Sui that is. Which are pretty basic.
Mum has to leave stuff where it is and not disturb me.
Ever.
How difficult is that?
I mean, really.
Birthday boys!
Happy Birthday Kobe and Bertie!!!
Did you get cake?
I didn’t get any last year so I hope your owners treat you better.
Mum has reminded me that I did get some steak…..and she was politely wondering if I wanted a repeat of that or not?
I reckon I do.
I may tone down my complaining about her for a while.
Do you think that would be a wise move?
Elvis
Mum went to another birthday party this month and Elvis was there. He looks pretty good for his age.
60
So…. it’s official, Mum has apparently been on the planet for 60 years now.
The offspring took her out for brunch to the highest building in London and then onto a show. Mum had a fab time – thank you!
In actual fact, Mum feels she was very spoiled cos the swim gals also took her out for dins and drinkies – thank you too! They have been especially kind in trying to convince her she is vintage and not antique.
I feel we all know the real truth though don’t we?
Quizzical
Quizzing this month has gone mega.
It doesn’t seem to have made any difference to the result but there was a significant cheese and wine fest so all good!
Also no-one seems to have any idea who won but raised heaps of cash for a great cause.
So that has to be a win eh?
Sunset
Finally, pictures of me.
We have walked quite a long way so I am not looking at my most energetic or bouncy. Also it is getting cold.
Here are some fab pictures of me after we got home.
I am waiting for a treat. I am giving a pretty strong hint that I would like a treat.
Mum can be incredibly slow on the uptake sometimes.
It worked in the end.
It always does.

Reading:
An Immense World by Ed Yong, published by BH. A fascinating insight into how animal senses reveal the hidden realms around us. Actually a cool book and one that might make you re-think our world – to see it through other eyes. That’s never a bad thing is it?
Film
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. Released in 2022 it is an absurdist comedy drama incorporating sci-fi, martial arts and great visual effects plus apparently being the most awarded film of all time. Mum really enjoyed it – deffo worth a gander. I fell asleep on the floor while Mum was watching it.
