Hard Stare
This is me giving Mum a very hard stare.
She has been a bit of a nuisance so far this month. We have been up to stay with Offspring#2 who apparently needs a wedding dress (whatever one of those is). Offspring#3 helped out which was just as well.
In the meantime, I was left in charge of Offspring#2’s house – which was a bit of a cheek if you ask me.
But of course no-one did. Ask me that is.
Same old story.
Have I mentioned before how much I am taken for granted?
Redemption
Mum has redeemed herself somewhat by taking me on lots of long walks.
It has been quite misty and Autumnal in the woods recently. There have also been a lot of deer around which is EXTREMELY interesting to me.
And zillions of sloe berries which, for some inexplicable reason, seem to be interesting to Mum.
Honestly she really has no idea. They don’t smell nice.
Even the birds don’t seem to like them much.
Sunrise
Red sky in the morning ……
It bucketed down later in the day so it was just as well Mum had taken an unexpected executive decision to get out super early.
I just go with the flow – you know me 😊 (really Saffron – really??)
Also I don’t much like getting wet so, for once, I had to concede that Mum was right.
Don’t tell her though or I’ll never hear the end of it.
Chill Swims
This is the madness known as chill swimming – or at least the peeps who accompany Mum.
They look quite happy here but it is apparently getting really quite cold in the water … so we shall see how long this continues shan’t we?
Offspring #2 and fiancé also went chill swimming, so basically there is not much hope for them either! Mad as a box of frogs.
You wouldn’t catch me in there.
Not a chance.
Science
Here are some pretty pictures of the science stuff that Offspring#4 is doing.
The good news about science is that (sometimes) it actually looks like real life.
For those amongst you who are fans of the film ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’, Offspring#4 has apparently made a scientific ‘impression de’ Zero – see below.
Cool! 😊
S’all too, too much
Mother has gone off to a conference.
How very dare she.
I thought this sort of behaviour had been dealt with and stopped for once and for all.
Clearly not.
I am showing my extreme displeasure by going to sleep. I slept for quite a long time which gives you a very clear indication as to how disgruntled I was. Mum’s back now of course – not even a small spot of contrition or an apology.
I know.
Some people.
Midnight shenanigans
And finally, some small words of wisdom ….
…. quite probably ……
I don’t wear shoes so this doesn’t apply to me.
In actual fact it’s a pretty good reason not to wear shoes ever ….
Saffron’s recommendations this month:
Music: Fleetwood Mac
How on earth have we got this far along without a spot of F-Mac..? Let’s put that right, here and now eh?
Sooo… for starters just go straight for the 1977 album ‘Rumours’. It sold 10 million copies in the first month alone.
Then, suggest you immerse yourself in:
Rhiannon
Tusk
Gypsy
Sara
Albatross
Little Lies
Everywhere
Landslide
And how’s about a bonus track – try Stevie Nicks and ‘Edge of Seventeen’.
Reading: The Dark Forest by Cixin Lui
From the back cover….’Imagine the Universe as a forest, patrolled by numberless and nameless predators. In this forest stealth is survival – any civilisation that reveals its location is prey.
Earth has.
Now the predators are coming.
oooh – Mum loves it ……
Film: Kelly’s Heroes – a 1970 comedy-drama heist film set in WW2, about a motley crew of American soldiers who go AWOL in order to rob a French bank, located behind German lines, of its stored Nazi gold bars. Starring Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas (who loves ya baby) and Donald Sutherland as ‘oddball’ the tank driver.
Mum’s fave line from the film – in the middle of an epic battle scene:
Big Joe: ‘What are you doing?
Oddball: I’m drinking some wine, and eating cheese. Catching rays, you know.
