2022 August – Lionesses, What a Tit, Meadow Sweet, Handsome, New Gaff, Speedy, Mr Blue Sky, Aliens, New Toy
Lionesses
It’s coming home….
Whoop – Congratulations!!! 😊
What a tit
Here are some pics of Mum and the Bluetits Chill Swimmers doing their stuff. Also some pics of where they do their stuff which, in this locale, is The River Great Ouse.
Mum has been bitten by all of the insects in the universe. She looks terrible. She puts ‘Avon skin-so-soft’ insect repellent on sometimes. Looking at the state of her, I feel this needs to be more of a regular kinda thing tbh.
I don’t get to go swimming with Mum (ever) because apparently I would cause chaos.
I don’t mind really, I’m not much of a swimmer.
Neither is Mum if we’re being entirely honest. 😊
And last but not least – Charlie and Davey who seem to have more sense than the humans and are keeping out of the water.
Meadow sweet
This is a picture of me in a newly mowed meadow in the wild woods.
It’s just lovely out early, if I say so myself.
Today we saw a lots of deer and muntjac (barking deer) which was VERY interesting for me. And boy the muntjacs really do bark – loudly too.
I may even have barked back at them a little.
Just to show willing you know. 😊
Handsome
Just been to the groomers.
You lookin’ fine Kobe. 😊
New Gaff
Offspring #3 moved into her new flat this month. Whoop !
Offspring’s #2 and #4 helped out.
Or so they say… 😊
All safely moved now.
I didn’t help out.
I don’t do house moving very well.
It’s just too stressful.
Speedy
Mum has to take a speed awareness course ….. 36 in a 30 limit on a dual carriageway – bleah. She’s not terribly impressed but them’s the rules eh?
And them’s the consequences.
Just sayin’.
(Thanks for your support and input Saffron).
Mr Blue Sky
This is me out under a clear blue one.
It hasn’t rained around here for ever now.
The garden is parched, the outside world in general is parched and everything is tinder dry. Not a cloud in sight. There have been fires in the fields locally and the fire brigade has been on red alert for weeks now.
There is probably enough water – in the UK at least – to deal with temporary stuff like this but we do seem pretty incapable of managing our resources sensibly don’t we?
Crazy.
Aliens
Rib cage roof …
As you already know, Mum loves her sci-fi so this is the latest venue to be added to the bucket list.
A museum dedicated to HR Giger who created the xenomorphs from the Alien movies.
So, so cool.
New Toy
Offspring #3 has bought me a new toy.
She has finally got the message and usually now only turns up bearing gifts.
Finally, my work is done – with this human at least …
Saffron’s recommendations this month:
Music:
Lilly Allen and the album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’. Released 2009 as her second studio album with electropop and jazz influences. It’s just great – you gotta listen to this – oh and take a gander at the lyrics. Hard hitting and occasionally hilarious – sometimes both at the same time. Thanks to A from swimming for the suggestion!! 😊
You’ll recognise some of these tracks, the first one for sure:
The Fear (killer lyrics)
Not Fair (OMG – again the lyrics – Lilly!)
F*ck You
I Could Say
Never Gonna Happen
22 (a bit depressing!)
Who’d Have Known
Reading:
Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho, published by Thorsons. The back of the book says ’.. tells the story of Maria, a young girl from a Brazilian village, whose first innocent brushes with love leave her heartbroken. At a young age she becomes convinced that she will never find true love believing that ’love is a terrible thing that will make you suffer’. Maria ends up working as a prostitute in Geneva and the book tracks her experiences.
Mnnn… Mum says there is some quite beautiful, evocative writing (as you’d expect from PC) and the storyline is apparently based in part on a series of conversations PC had with sex workers. At the very least it will make you think – an alt, oddly and unexpectedly romantic perspective on love and relationships in general.
Film:
Mum went to see Bullet Train, an action comedy with Brad Pitt as an assassin recently released from therapy and in a philosophical mood. Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock get cameo parts. All very violent and all very nicely done. (Brad is great in this kind of role, although Mum’s favourite BP character has to be Mickey, the gypsy (can you say that nowadays?) and bare-knuckle boxer in ‘Snatch’ – watch the film or look it up on You Tube – ‘I’ll fight ya for it’ – with Jason Statham narrating, just brilliantly funny.
This Is Us (yep, not a film)
On Amazon Prime (atm) the lengthy story of a family through several generations. One critic’s assessment as follows:
In addition to a stellar creative team, a talented cast, a creative format, and a crushing score, one of the things that’s always made This Is Us so great was its ability to celebrate and seek out the unexpected, often hidden, meaning in everyday life.
Yep, that about sums it up. Occasionally a bit syrupy for Mum’s taste but s’a great series.
