2021 April – Gardening, Midnight Squeaky Toy, J’accuse

Gardening

This is a picture of Kobe helping his humans (offspring #2 and boyfriend) do some gardening.

It looks exhausting work.

More proactive helping going on in this picture.

And a well deserved rest.

This is a picture of me helping Mum do the gardening.

And a well deserved rest.

Midnight Squeaky Toy

My Midnight Squeaky Toy

Mum and I are staying with offspring #2 for a few days just before she takes off overseas for a year.

I am keeping everyone up late because I can.

Why not?

Back home

This is a picture of lovely me in the fields near home.

We had a nice time away but I do still get a bit anxious and stressed so it’s nice to be home.   Mum has walked my little feetsies off today.  As you can see, it was sunny out, so we went miles and miles.

I expect I will have a little nap when we get home because Mum is being boring as usual and working.    Then I expect I will pester her for some attention and food a bit later on.

That’s my plan for today.

This is me enacting my plan.

This is my ‘well where’s my dinner?’ face.  It worked because Mum dutifully went off and sorted out food for me.

And not a moment too soon.

I was practically fainting with hunger.

I expect you can tell.

Mum gets so engrossed in work stuff that sometimes she forgets what time it is.  I haven’t had to resort to barking at her yet but it might very well come to that.

If it does, believe me, I won’t hold back.

J’accuse

This is a picture of me giving Mum (another) long hard look.

We may have just had a DIRE existential emergency.

Or at least Mum has.

On occasions, Mum has been known to buy ‘caterpillar’ birthday cakes for the offspring because they are a favourite.    And apparently there has been a ferocious legal war between ‘Colin the Caterpillar’ (M&S) v  Cuthbert the Caterpillar’ (Aldi).

M&S has been making Colin since 1990 with 15m sold so far. They’re accusing Aldi of copy-caterpillaring.  (See what I’ve done there?)

Aldi tweeted, ‘this isn’t just any old court case, this is an M&S court case  #Free Cuthbert’.   :)

It’s all been settled now, so Mum can relax.  She will still be able to get a Colin or a Cuthbert.

FYI – there are other democratically elected caterpillar cakes as well – Clyde @Asda, Morris @Morrisons, Curly @ Tesco, Cecil @Waitrose (posh lol) and Wiggles (what!) @Sainsburys.

Since I’m a dog, I can’t eat chocolate cake anyway, so it seems to be an enormous fuss about nothing.

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Music: Moby, an American musician, singer, songwriter, producer.  Credited with bringing dance music to mainstream America in the 90’s.

Go – the very best of Moby or the album ‘Play’ which is Mum’s choice. Tracks from Play (all good) include:

Honey

Porcelain

Bodyrock

Natural Blues

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad

Reading:

The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller, published by Arrow

A bittersweet tale of profound love, surprisingly complex, a brief encounter that will last a lifetime.

Film:

The Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood (Produced, Directed, stars in) and Meryl Streep, released 1995.

See above, feel Clint does the story justice.  Nice one Clint.
