2020 October – Protecting, Playing Nice, Waiting, Hallowe’en

Protecting

This is a picture of me protecting an offspring.

Something is going on outside and I’m not sure what.

Whatever it is, it’s making a really odd noise.  I am on red alert.

There it is.   More aliens.   Cheeky.

I’d thought we’d left them behind when we moved house.

Playing Nicely

This is me playing nicely with an offspring.

I am being very gentle.

I didn’t used to be gentle.

But I am now.

It generally ends better that way.

Waiting

This is a picture of me doing something I am pretty good at now.

Namely waiting.

It’s worth waiting for.  That’s because it’s food.  Most other things I can’t be  bothered to wait for.  Apart from a tennis ball.  Or a football.  Or a walk.  Or a new toy.  Or a treat.

I am quite selective as you can see.

Mum can be pretty hopeless at getting me stuff.  She gets distracted.  Mostly with work.  I may have mentioned this before.  She really needs to give that up.

My needs are far more important.

Hallowe’en

Yes it’s that time of year again.  This is a picture of Spider Kobe – cool huh?

And since it is Hallowe’en, this is absolutely the right thing to watch.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

If you’ve not seen Tim Burton’s classic, then you’ve missed out.

Big time.  I can’t stress that enough.   Why not watch it now – even if it isn’t the big H today?

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Music: Take a gander at Canadian band Barenaked Ladies.  They started off as exclusively acoustic and now cover pop, rock, hip hop, rap…   You’ll know them for the sig tune from TV’s The Big Bang Theory.   And if you don’t, then this will be a lovely new immersive experience for you then, won’t it?  Mum likes the album Maroon but there’s lots of other stuff to peruse.  Try these.

It’s All Been Done

The Big Bang Theory theme

Too Little Too Late

Falling for the First Time

Pinch Me

Go Home

Baby Seat    (if you think growing up is tough, then you’re just not grown up enough, baby…)

One Week  (you’ll know this one for sure)

Reading: We’re opting for a little murder mystery this month with Sherlock, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, first printed in 1887.   Some fans actually believed Holmes really existed.  There are 56 short stories and 4 novels – if you’d like to, of course.

Films: There have been a number of Sherlock Holmes films starting with the 1922 classic.  There are animated cartoons and TV series as well.  You might have seen the most recent TV version with Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Andrew Scott.  That’s well worth a watch.  But we’re talking films here, so go for the Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong combo (2009, 2011).  Also Enola Holmes with Millie Bobby Brown (2020) – a strong film – there must be more of these on the way, surely?
