2019 May – Plumbing, Windows, Taking a Break, Greenery, Supervisory

Plumbing

This is a picture of me looking stressed.

The plumbers have arrived.

They all have dogs themselves and are quite nice actually and I’ve had some treats too.  I’ve also escaped into the outside world while they were bringing their stuff in and I had a little wander around on the street.

Nothing bad happened which Mum says is a miracle really.

They seem to have a lot of stuff.  Mum says they are replacing everything so there will be a lot of disruption for quite a while.

Windows

This is me distracting the nice window men from their job.

I am good at distracting people.  All the windows and doors are being sorted out so I expect I’ll have several days of distraction duties.

I have realised that the window men also have dogs and even better than that, they have pockets full of emergency dog treats.    I reckon I could become a bit of an emergency if I put my mind to it.

I’ll put my mind to it.

Just watch me.

Taking a Break

This is me taking a break from all of the disruption.

There are a lot of people in and out of the house at the moment.  There is dust and stuff and old things and new things and disconnected things and throwy out things everywhere. It is exhausting.

Mum is still trying to work in between tea and coffee breaks for everyone.  Mum likes her tea but she is a rank amateur compared to these guys.

Fresh Air

This is a picture of me getting some fresh air.

There is a lot of dust at home because of all the renovations.  Apparently that’s what it’s called.    Feels (and looks) more like destructions if I’m honest.

Mum says you can’t make an omelette without first breaking a few eggs.

Greenery

This is a picture of some vegetation which arrived today.

It is currently in the kitchen – or what’s left of the kitchen.

As usual, not content with doing one thing at a time, Mum is doing everything at once, including the garden.

Some of the front has been gravelled (to be able to get more cars on the drive) and new borders made.  I didn’t like that at all.  I barked a lot about that.

This green stuff is going out to the back garden apparently.  I expect I will be required to supervise.

I’m wondering if I have the energy.  I’m quite surprised Mum does, although she can be pretty determined when she wants to be.   Usually in a stubborn, ‘failure is not an option’ sort of way.

Supervisory

This is a picture of me on supervisory duties.

I’m quite good at it if I say so myself.

Today I supervised the plumbers putting in a new bathroom, the electrician doing stuff with alarms and Mum doing some work.

Then I had a nap because it is quite tiring having all this responsibility.

Saffron’s recommendations this month:

Music: Guardians of the Galaxy  Awesome Mix Vol 1  and Vol 2.   Say no more.  A series of cultural reference points which link the film to life on earth.  In 2014, in terms of sales, this was second only to the soundtrack of Frozen.  What are you waiting for?

Reading:The Hundred Year Old Man who climbed out of a window and disappeared by Jonas Jonasson , published by Hesperus Press.  Escaping from his 100th birthday party (which he didn’t want to attend anyway) Allan makes his getaway through the open window. Crazy, funny, a few murders and a suitcase full of cash later and we learn about Allan’s contribution to some momentous events in the 2oth century.    If you like this, then try Hitman Anders and the meaning of it all by the same author.

Films: Guardians of the Galaxy – the 10th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel (voice of Groot) and Bradley Cooper (voice of Rocket).   Fab space adventure.  If you like this then you’ll also want to watch Vol 2.  Oh yes, you will.
