2019 April – Machu Picchu, In the Wild Woods, Oh no! Not the Bluebells, Gippy Tummy, Water Fight, Birthday Walks, Pensive
Machu Picchu
Offspring #3 is here at the moment.
Apparently there are llamas there too. I don’t know what those are but I’m wondering if there is a possibility of me being interested in them.
What do you reckon?
I think I might be.
Mum’s always wanted to go to Machu Picchu. She’s already been to Mexico and visited the Aztec ruins at Teotihuacan, just outside Mexico city. They are immense with 2 pyramids – the Temple of the Moon and Sun.
What is it with pyramids eh? They crop up everywhere all over the world it seems.
In the Wild Woods
This is a picture of the new wild woods.
Mum has finally got her act together and found me a proper wood. It is over 130 hectares and over 900 years old, so ancient woodland. Nice.
Mum was happy because there were primroses and bluebells and I was really happy because there was hardly anyone else there. We walked around quite a lot. I reckon Mum got us lost, per usual.
Mum has decided the woods and the lake at the end of our road are only good for us if we go super early – daybreak early. Anytime after that there are other people and dogs about and as we all know, this interferes with my karma.
These new woods are a short drive away so I also get to bark at stuff on the way there. Pretty much normal service resumed then.
A win for me.
Oh No! Not the bluebells
This is a picture of me in the bluebells.
In the other woods I once got told off by someone for being in the bluebells. I had to though. It was an emergency, avoiding manoeuvre. They were hogging the whole path. I barked at them a lot and they shouted back. Mum says it wasn’t a great experience really.
We have had a nice Easter, thank you for asking and Mum has painted the shed and cleared some ivy stuff and other shrubby things. This has left a pile of vegetation which will need taking down the tip. So I expect it will just stay in a big pile until someone (Mum) summons the energy to move it. I’m not getting involved. It looks too much like hard work.
Offspring #4 is here so I have been a bit social too. I also nearly made friends with next doors spaniel but then I changed my mind. You can’t really trust dogs – they can be unreliable.
Gippy tummy
This is a picture of me feeling sorry for myself.
I’ve got a bit of a gippy tummy. I got Mum up 5 times last night cos I needed to go out because of my gippy tummy. I’m trying to sleep it off now.
So is Mum.
And she doesn’t even have a gippy tummy.
Mum has escaped
This is a picture of me looking.
Mum has gone off somewhere for work and left me again. I am being looked after properly of course but that’s not the point.
She has no right to leave me like this.
It has to stop.
Water Fight
Mum is back now. This is a picture of me recovering from a water fight with her . I do like a water fight. She is slightly forgiven.
Mum has bought a new hose pipe to try and keep the plants in pots alive.
She seems mildly surprised that offspring #3 and #4’s plants have survived the move and her general neglect.
Birthday walks
This is a picture of me in the woods on my birthday.
Given that I had a little more chicken today I am thinking that perhaps I might have at least one birthday a week.
Mum says it doesn’t work like that.
I don’t see why it couldn’t though.
Mum just needs to try a bit harder.
Pensive
This is a picture of me thinking great thoughts.
Stuff like:
Take the path less travelled – and maybe collect a little wisdom along the way
Be courageous
Be better than you were yesterday
Do something today that your future self will thank you for
Live each moment like it’s your last (I do. Mum feels this may be a bit too extreme for everyday living, but thinking like this occasionally might focus your mind on what is actually important to you)
Be honest and fair with yourself and others
Oh….and use your self control and just be kind eh?
Especially to all canines.
Saffron’s recommendations this month:
Music: Do you know what. I think we should go for a steady four-on-the-floor-beat, glitterball it up and go a bit disco this month. How about these tracks? Oh, there are so many! If these don’t get you up on your feet (or at the very least tapping along) then, really sorry, you’re probably already dead.
I Feel Love or Hot Stuff (The Full Monty :) )- Donna Summer
Night Fever or Stayin’ Alive or You Should Be Dancing or Jive Talkin’ – Bee Gees
Grease -Frankie Valli
Boogie Wonderland – Earth Wind and Fire
Disco Inferno (Burn Baby Burn) – The Trammps (oh yesssss, this is just the best)
Love Train – The O’Jays
Celebration – Kool and the Gang
Let’s All Chant – Michael Zager Band
Oops Upside Your Head – The Gap Band Look up the dance system for this on YouTube – hilarious. Richard, if you’re reading, this is for you – yeah you know who you are :)
Stomp – The Brothers Johnson
Get Down Tonight or that’s the Way I Like it- KC and the Sunshine Band
Rock the Boat – the Hues Corporation
Reading: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday, published by Phoenix. Quirky, very funny and a scarily plausible cross between The Office and The Thick of It. Lightly heroic satire. Or watch the film starring Ewan McGregor. You won’t be disappointed.
Film: Keeping with the disco vibe, I’m wondering if we should go for a bit of early John Travolta. What do you reckon? So take your pick of Saturday Night Fever or Grease. Both good and SNF made John a household name. Good music in both films and some iconic dance moves too. Bet you can do some of them can’t you? Yeah, you can.
