2018 December – Christmas Prep, Cuddles, Boxing Day

Prep

This is a picture of me looking exhausted from all the prep.

There is a lot of Christmas preparation going on at the moment.  Stuff is being brought out of the attic and the offspring (who are visiting) are all getting way too excited.   The offspring are elsewhere for actual Christmas so everything is being done a bit early.  Mum’s aunt, brother and his girlfriend are all here too, so it is very busy.

I am on guard duty.  I have a feeling that some of the presents might be for me.

It smells like it to my super sensitive nose.

Occasionally I have been known to get that wrong though.

Cuddles

This is me having a little snuggle with offspring #4.

When I first arrived at Mum’s in 2016, I wasn’t at all cuddly.  In fact I would move away from anyone who tried to touch me.

I didn’t trust anyone.

Quite literally no one.

I have learnt over the years that these humans are actually all pretty much OK.

Apart from Mum of course who is entirely unreliable.

Boxing Day

This is a picture of me on Boxing Day.

Christmas day is always interesting for a dog with a sensitive nose because there is usually lots of interesting stuff to smell (and occasionally eat).  It was also quite busy for me because there are extra people around the place.

I am sleeping it all off now in peace and quiet.

Here are 2 video clips which explain why.

Reading:

‘Foucault’s Pendulum’ by Umberto Eco, published by Picador

A big read for the hols.  Find yourself some down time and a quiet place.   As brilliant and quirky as ‘The Name of the Rose’ by the same author.  Although it pre-dates it by more than a decade, this book has been called the thinking man’s Da Vinci Code and both novels are concerned with the Knights Templar, complex conspiracies, secret codes, and a chase around the monuments of Paris.  (I like the Da Vinci Code as it happens but it seems Eco was less than charitable about that book!).

Film:  We’re going for a Christmas classic……

Love Actually

You already know the story lines don’t you?

An outstanding cast.
